Rules of Play

Understanding the rules is essential for fair play and sportsmanship. Here, we outline the key regulations that govern our games, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.

U7 Soccer Rules - 4 v 4 play

• Field

o Dimensions shall by 30 yards by 50 yards with a half-way line and a center circle with a 5 yard

radius.

o Goals shall be 6 feet by 12 feet.

o Goal area is 3 yard from each post and 3 yards deep.

o Penalty area is 12 yards by 35 yards.

• Ball size 3.

• Players must be geared properly at all practices and games:

o Cleats, shin guards, and soccer socks (completely covering the shin guards).

o No jewelry of any kind (earrings, necklaces, bracelets).

o No hard plastic or metal hair accessories (bows, clips, head bands, etc.).

• Number of Players

o Format is 4v4 with NO GOALKEEPER.

o Minimum players on field is 2

o Maximum rostered players is 7.

o Players must be allowed to play minimum of 50% of each game.


 Exceptions include injury, illness, unwillingness to play, or disciplinary reasons.

 Substitutions can be made with referee’s permission for injury or at the quarter.


• Games durations

o (4) 10 minute quarters

o 2 min break between 1 st and 2 nd quarter; 2 min break between 3 rd and 4 th quarters

o 5 min break at half time

• One neutral official (referee) shall be allocated to every match. All infringements shall be briefly explained

to the player.

• Start of Play:

o Winner of coin toss decides which end to attack.

o Ball must move slightly forward (not backward).

o Kicker may not kick the ball a second time until another player touches the ball.

o Opponents must be 5 yards from the center mark.

• No official score will be recorded.

• There is no offside. Referee, however, may discourage "goal-hanging".

• Fouls and Misconducts Conform to FIFA

o Exception: Referee will explain all infractions to the offending player

o All free kicks are direct and opponent shall remain 4 yards from ball.

o There shall be no penalty kicks.

• Ball In and Out of Play:

o Ball must be 100% over line to be out.

o Throw-In: Balls out of bounds are put into play by the opposing team at the point on the touchline

where the ball was kicked out of bounds. One re-throw/team after instruction by official.

o Goal Kick: Goal kick is taken by defending team from any point on goal line. Opponents must be 4

yards away from ball.

o Corner Kick: If team defending goal touches ball last before it crosses goal line, attacking team

puts it into play with an indirect corner kick. Opponents must be 4 yards away from ball.

• Opposing parents/coaches and players should shake hands after each game.
